Rheumatology

What is Rheumatology?

Rheumatology is the branch of medicine for diagnosing and dealing with certain disorders whose common feature is inflammation in the joints, muscles, bones and internal organs.

Who is a Rheumatologist?

A rheumatologist diagnoses and treats arthritis and other immune-related conditions and diseases. When you experience severe joint or musculoskeletal pain that do not go away on its own or reoccurs after a short treatment, you need to visit a rheumatologist. He also provides treatment of different diseases that affect the bones, muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. These diseases may lead to swelling, pain, stiffness and cause joint deformities.

What is the right position to sleep with rheumatoid arthritis?

You may try lying on the unaffected side with a pillow. If you like to sleep on the back, you can place a soft pillow under your bad shoulder. As lying down causes blood to rush to the area and increase pain and swelling, you can try propping yourself up to lessen this effect.

What time of day can Rheumatoid arthritis become worse?

The joint pain with rheumatoid arthritis is generally an aching pain. It becomes worse in the mornings and after a period of inactivity.

Is Rheumatic disorder treatable?

Though there is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis, early treatment and support by taking medicine, with lifestyle changes, treatments and surgery may lessen the risk of joint damage and restrict the impact of this condition.

Can lifestyle changes help with Rheumatoid disorders?

You can do daily exercises to increase endurance, such as swimming, walking, or cycling. Also, yoga and Pilates are beneficial in increasing overall strength without overextending joints.
